The Missing Link: effective stakeholder cooperation for prevention of MSHT among vulnerable youth
Building on the findings of the “Effective Prevention of Exploitation and Trafficking of Vulnerable Youth” project that took place between September 2023 – March 2025, we continued our mission to protect youth at risk by launching a new initiative: The Missing Link: effective stakeholder cooperation for prevention of MSHT among vulnerable youth.
The project responded to critical needs identified in the previous phase: stronger local cooperation among youth workers and key stakeholders, the replication of training in new communities, and the need of practical tools to reduce youth vulnerability.

Results:
- A three-day replicated training program, held from 6 to 8 October 2025, contributed to increasing the professional skills of the 44 participants from DGASPC Cluj and NGOs, improving their understanding of forms of human trafficking, recruitment mechanisms, gender-based violence and other associated vulnerabilities, as well as procedures for identifying and reporting cases. The program, supported by experienced trainers from Romania (A.L.E.G. Association and eLiberare) and the United Kingdom (Barnardo’s), had a positive impact on institutional cooperation and the prevention of human trafficking among vulnerable young people. - The Community of Practice, piloted in Sibiu County, created a collaborative framework for professionals from public social institutions working with vulnerable youth, facilitating the exchange of experience, continuous learning and the development of common solutions. Between September 2025 and March 2026, the bimonthly workshops addressed topics such as trauma, child protection, human trafficking prevention, relational and financial education, stereotypes, career guidance and the prevention of professional burnout. Community members highlighted the sense of belonging and the reduction of professional isolation, with the meetings providing mutual support and practical learning through the exchange of ideas and experiences. The model was documented through a practical guide, which supports its replication in other communities. Download the Guide HERE
- The practical journal for young people, “I choose for myself – Personal Development Journal” – designed as a personal space for reflection and self-knowledge, which supports adolescents and young people to understand their emotions, choices and relationships. It provides a safe framework for exploring identity, personal boundaries and surrounding influences, addressing essential topics such as personal development, healthy relationships and financial education. It contributes to understanding the connection between self-confidence, decision-making and personal safety, supporting the formation of more conscious and safe choices for the future. Each of us is the most valuable link in our own safety. Download the Journal HERE
- The national dissemination event highlighted the need for closer collaboration between institutions, regular meetings, reducing professional isolation and focusing on prevention, as well as the importance of continuing and expanding the Community of Practice working model. Details HERE
