Any right can be lost when no one defends it…<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Women’s rights are human rights<\/b> and, this year, at the Gender Equality Festival, we <\/span>dare<\/b> to highlight the fragility of these hard-won rights, achieved only in the last hundred years. How much do you know about all the efforts made by many different women, from all corners of the world, over many years, sometimes across generations? Did you know that these rights, such as the right to live free from violence and the right to health, have benefited not only women but also their communities and society as a whole? What if your right to make decisions about your own life was taken away? November 02| Saturday<\/strong> The Gender Equality Festival\u00ae<\/b> is an awareness campaign primarily aimed at young people, helping them to become familiar with concepts such as human rights and women’s rights, and to see beyond stereotypes and prejudices.<\/span><\/p>\n The Gender Equality Festival\u00ae<\/b> is organized by A.L.E.G. Association. This year’s partners include Gong Theatre for Children and Youth, ESTE Film Festival, Racolaj, C\u0103rture\u0219ti Sibiu and Promenada Sibiu. The activities are made possible through financial support from the Center for Reproductive Rights.<\/span><\/p>\n The Gender Equality Festival\u00ae<\/b> is an event organized by the A.L.E.G. Association. The partners of this year’s edition are the Center for Reproductive Rights<\/a>, British Embassy Bucharest, Gong Theater Sibiu<\/a>, ESTE Film Festival<\/a>, Promenada Sibiu<\/a>, Radu Stanca National Theater in Sibiu<\/a>, Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu<\/a>, Carturesti Sibiu<\/a>, Racolaj<\/a>. This year’s program will feature film screenings, workshops, discussions and debates, as well as a book launch. Women of different ages, ethnicities, beliefs, statuses, and social classes who have left, and continue to leave, their mark on our society. Women who have faced and still face prejudice and inequality, standing strong in difficult situations. Women who lost their lives due to a lack of access to reproductive health services. Women who are alive today because they found an alternative. A long line of women, starting in the past and continuing into the present, reaching you, to give you courage.<\/span><\/p>\n Dare!
