{"id":3342,"date":"2017-02-16T21:25:25","date_gmt":"2017-02-16T21:25:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/aleg-romania.eu\/gender-ed-combatting-gender-stereotypes-in-education-and-career-guidance\/"},"modified":"2017-02-16T21:25:25","modified_gmt":"2017-02-16T21:25:25","slug":"gender-ed-combatting-gender-stereotypes-in-education-and-career-guidance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aleg-romania.eu\/en\/gender-ed-combatting-gender-stereotypes-in-education-and-career-guidance\/","title":{"rendered":"GENDER-ED: Combatting gender stereotypes in education and career guidance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Project code:<\/strong><\/span> JUST\/2015\/RGEN\/AG\/ROLE\/9617<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Implementation periode:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0 Jan. 2017- June 2019<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>To address the stereotyping of educational and career choices and to promote gender equality in education, training and career guidance;<\/li>\n<li>To attract women into male-dominated sectors or occupations, and conversely to attract men into female-dominated sectors or occupations;<\/li>\n<li>To challenge stereotypical assumptions about the roles of women and men in the labour market, including in leadership positions, and to change behaviours and practices that hamper equality.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Objectives:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Explore the role that schools, teachers and curricula play in terms of perpetuating gender stereotypical behaviours and expectations among girls and boys.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Identify the attitudes and beliefs of girls and boys on gender stereotypes in relation to their career choices.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Develop innovative pedagogical tools and materials for teachers and career guidance counsellors to combat gender stereotypes in the classroom.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Raise awareness on how gender stereotypes inform daily practices in the education setting among all those key actors who are involved: a) secondary school teachers b) in career guidance and mentoring.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Raise awareness and understanding among boys and girls on the ways in which gender stereotypes shape and influence the perceptions, attitudes, beliefs and personal choices;<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Challenge gendered attitudes and behaviour patterns among girls and boys through a reflection process to renegotiate the way they see themselves and others beyond the &#8216;prohibitions&#8217; and &#8216;restrictions&#8217; associated with their gender<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Widely spread policy recommendations and messages in relation to the eradication of gender stereotypes in education.\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/aleg-romania.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Logo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-3483\" src=\"https:\/\/aleg-romania.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Logo.jpg\" alt=\"Logo\" width=\"300\" height=\"193\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><br \/>\nActivities:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Conduct a diagnostic study using quantitative and qualitative research tools in order to identify those attitudes and behaviours that perpetuate gender stereotypes.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Convene and co-ordinate Young People\u2019s Advisory Group (YPAG) in each partner country.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Develop gender sensitive educational programme for teachers to implement in schools with girls and boys (aged 13-16);<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Update\/Develop career counselling manual and teacher\u2019s guide to facilitate and support the implementation of the educational programme for girls and boys (aged 13-16).<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Develop innovative online game for adolescents (aged 13-16), as a resource to support the deconstruction of traditional and stereotypical attitudes and behaviours related to gender.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Teachers&#8217; training seminars, aiming at their capacity building to implement interventions with adolescents utilizing the pedagogical tools and materials developed in Workstream 2.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Awareness raising workshops with adolescents at schools by the trained teachers in order to pilot-test &amp;
